I was born in Galveston, Texas. The fifth of seven children, I grew up surrounded by art and artists. My father, David Moore, was a sculptor. my sister, Clelie Moore, was a printmaker and ceramicist.
Watercolor is my medium of choice, for its fluidity and transparency. Using it alone or in combination with other media such as inks, charcoal, colored pencil, and collage allows me to experiment and pursue new directions with my painting. My subject matter, even when it appears to be totally abstract, is often something I’ve actually seen – a distorted reflection or an image viewed through glass or water. I try to make paintings that are fresh and engaging, while staying true to the fluid nature of watercolor. I use 100% rag, archival watercolor paper, usually Arches or Fabriano, for my paintings.
